“Patterns In Nature” by Pamela Rushby

“Patterns In Nature” by Pamela Rushby

Conduct some research to find photographs of patterns in nature.  Group these pictures in a display under the labels….

Animals

Patterns
Plant Patterns
Patterns In Landscapes

I had to find  patterns in landscapes, in plants, in animals and all around us. I learned that patterns can be all around us. Patterns are everywhere.

Live, Work and Play Safely” by Heather Hammonds

Live, Work and Play Safely” by Heather Hammonds

Think about an activity that you do, or a sporting activity you belong to and make a list of the rules that members need to follow.  For each rule, briefly explain why this rule has been put in place.

Reflection
I am learning to get rules for the chart about a sport.
I am so proud of being able to do this task with doing the rules.
It can be tricky to find the rules about the sport you are doing.
My buddy can help me by giving me ideas for a sport to do it about.
The next step for me in my learning is to get more rules on the chart.

Peace Senses Poem

Reflection
I am learning to write a Poem about Peace One Day using my senses.
I am so proud of being able to describe what Peace feels like, tastes like and sounds like.
It can be tricky to describe the senses.
My buddy can help me by giving me some ideas.
The next step for me in my learning is to write a more interesting poem.

Like A Horrific Blood Bath

Like A Horrific Blood Bath

Its 3:35 am on the 25th April 1915.  I’m on the landing boat with a couple of friends, Ali and Noah.  We came on this great adventure together. The boat was swaying from side to side.  We were all feeling happy in a nervous way.

Suddenly there was a big flash of light.  Killing bullets were raining down on our boat.  I actually felt petrified for the first time in my whole life.  I crouched down and that was when the bomb went off.  Hot and sharp shrapnel raced everywhere.

I looked to my right  and saw that Ali had been shot in his face.  On the side of his head there was a gigantic hole.  Blood and brains were pouring out.  Ali fell to the ground crying in pain.  I cried out in horror.

I need to get out of here I thought.  I gripped my gun like it was the final thing I would do in my entire life.  I felt a sharp sting in my non-functioning leg.  I looked towards my leg and red blood was pouring out like a non-stopping waterfall.  It was like a horrific blood bath.  This was not the adventure that I thought it was going to be.

Reflection
I am learning to write an interesting recount.
I am so proud of making my recount interesting by using similes and adjectives.
It can be tricky to find the best similes to use in this story.
My buddy can help me by checking my work.
The next step for me in my learning is to write an even better recount.

Ukuelele

Peace One Day

As part of  our Inquiry work on Peaceful Communities we have been  learning about World Peace Day  on September 21st. On Friday 19th September we held a Taster Shared Lunch with Rooms  19 and 22.   We  had to bring in a small sample of a food that we might eat at home as a family favourite  or a food from our culture.  This helps us to learn about each other’s cultures and about tolerance of others.

My Hockey Prize Giving

I got this medal for participating in Hockey.

Percentages & Fractions Problem

Percentages and Fractions Reflection

I am learning to solve problems by using my understanding of the equivalence between percentages and fractions.

I am so proud of being able to work out percentage and fraction problems by myself.
I am so proud of being able to finish the problem and get the correct answer.
It can be tricky to work out the answer.
My buddy can help me by checking my work to see if it is wrong or right.
The next step for me in my learning is to do harder questions.
